Homemade scrubs for oily and acne-prone skin

Homemade scrubs for oily and acne-prone skin

People apply expensive products to reduce the production of oil on their skin and steer clear of foods that can make matters worse just to manage their oily skin. This could turn out to be a lot of hard work. However, you can heave a sigh of relief as there are many effective remedies that are sitting right in your kitchen closet.

You can treat your oily skin at home easily with the help of some products in your kitchen. Sure, you can get expensive scrubs from the market that will help you fight skin problems. But, sometimes, they can prove to be extremely unsafe. Additionally, you do not want to experiment with your oily skin and take risks. So, here are is a list of some homemade scrubs that can work wonders for your oily and acne-prone skin, without any side-effects.

Cucumber
Cucumber works as a mild astringent on your skin that helps in the removal of all the excess oil. One of the most common problems associated with having oily skin is having large pores. Using a cucumber scrub regularly can help you shrink down those large pores.

Take half a cucumber and make a paste out of it. Softly massage your face in circular motions for a couple of minutes. Wash it off with cold water and continue this treatment at least two weeks. To get the best results, cleanse your face thoroughly before applying the scrub and make sure you apply an oil-free cream after it.

Coconut oil
When you use coconut oil on your skin, you are helping it get rid of the dirt and impurities and giving it the nourishment it needs all at once. Additionally, coconut oil keeps your skin moisturized and controls the production of excess oil. Scrubbing your skin with coconut sugar granules can prove to be a great exfoliator.

Take one tablespoon of coconut oil, add one tablespoon of coconut sugar and massage your face with the mixture in circular motions. After scrubbing for a couple of minutes, wash off the scrub with lukewarm water. You must immediately use cold water to wash off the leftover oil on your face. To get the best results, repeat this at least two times a week.

Coffee
Coffee is not just instrumental in giving you the morning zing that you need, it also proves to be a great remedy for the skin. Loaded with antioxidants, coffee increases the blood circulation in your body, which makes your skin glow. The coffee granules, when used on face, can be a great exfoliator, too.

Add one tablespoon of ground coffee to one tablespoon of yogurt. Use the mixture to gently scrub your skin. Keep scrubbing for at least a couple of minutes. Let it rest for the next 5 minutes before washing it off. In case you are allergic to dairy products, use honey instead of yogurt.
